LIFE

I watched the first episode of a great program called 'Life' on Animal Planet, Discovery and TLC. Three years in the making, the videos are amazing. The episodes include: The Challenges of Life, Reptiles and Amphibians, Mammals, and Fish. Check it out.

As for my life, I spent most of the day in the back yard setting up my new composter. Sam's had it for sale and I have always been fascinated with how compost piles work. So now I will find out. I put it in the dog run as it needed to be in a place where it was sunny and flat. I have been saving tea bags, vegetable and fruit peelings and egg shells. I have a lot of leaves left from the fall which I put a little at a time into a large garbage can and cut them down with the weed eater (directions from the bag of compost starter). One layer of leaves, a layer of dirt and a layer of peelings--repeated 4 times-and water. Hope all this work is worth it. (And I hope it doesn't smell!)

There is snow and colder weather predicted for tomorrow. Colorado in the spring. I love it!

  1. We watched the first episode of Life last night, and thought it was fascinating! We wanted to let the kids watch it but they needed an earlier bedtime. I'm hoping it will be available to buy soon. Good luck with your compost! Keep it covered and it shouldn't smell bad.

  2. You must not have TIVO. It is a great show for kids and was on at 7 here.
The compost bin I bought has a lid. I should have taken a picture of it.

  3. Penny, my husband Jay is a big composter! You two should talk when you are here next. Other things you can compost: cotton clothing, dryer lint, coffee grounds. Also, if there are rats in your area, it is a good idea to have some sort of screen on the bottom of the compost bin to keep them out.

  4. We gave up our TiVo about a year ago in an attempt to cut back on all things of excess. I very rarely miss it... except for when shows like that are on.
